Frederick questions, answered.
Do you serve the communities around Frederick?
Yes — beyond Frederick we serve Urbana, Walkersville, New Market, Middletown, and Mount Airy. Reach out and we'll confirm your address.
Do I need a diagnosis before House of Hearts can help?
It depends on how you plan to pay. For insurance-covered ABA, yes — Maryland insurance requires an autism diagnosis from a licensed psychologist or developmental pediatrician before services can begin. For private pay, no — you can begin services without a formal diagnosis. If you don't have one yet and you would like one, we can refer you to a diagnostic partner.
How long is the Maryland Autism Waiver waitlist?
The state-run Autism Waiver has a long waitlist. Most families we serve use Maryland Medicaid or commercial insurance instead, which has no waitlist with us.
Do you serve the DC suburbs?
Yes. Our Maryland team covers Montgomery County, Prince George's County, and Howard County, which includes most of the DC suburbs.
Can my child get ABA at school in Maryland?
Yes, but it depends on the school and the district. We cannot guarantee in-school services in every case because some schools and districts are more difficult to navigate than others. What we can guarantee is that we will work with you and your child's school to try to make it happen wherever the school will permit it.
